Groomy Scorpion King

Scorpion King has ended... and while the conducting agency is a flop and should be #^%&*(*&!!!!
The cadets' standards on attack and defence are not bad at all...

much better than last batch? Indeed so... but it still is a groomy fieldcamp.

Anyway here is another wise saying by the buddha. Take heed!

Solitude is happiness for one who is content,
who has heard the Dhamma and clearly sees.

Non-affliction is happiness in the world-
harmlessness towards all living beings.

Compendium of Perfections

The "Compendium of the Perfections" says:

If you see the impermanence of resources
And naturally have great compassion
You will know with good reason that the gifts
You have kept in your house belongs to others.
There is never fear from what has been given away;
What is kept at home gives rise to fears
That it is insufficient, ordinary, or needing constant protection.

If you give it away, these faults never harm you.
By giving you achieve happiness in future lives;
Not giving brings suffering even in this life.
Human wealth is like a shooting star -
What is not given away will cease to exist.
Wealth not given is transitory and will be gone;
By giving it away it remains a treasury.
Wealth of no value comes to have value
When you strive to help living beings.

The wise praise giving wealth away,
Childish persons like to hoard it;
No wealth is kept by holding on to it;
From giving it away excellence always arises.
By giving things away, you no longer grasp the afflictions;
Being miserly breeds afflictions on an ignoble path.
Noble beings say generosity is the best path,
While its opposite is a bad path.

Aceh No More

Fuck man.

For a while I thought I can be rotated to Aceh to protect humanity against the harsh elements of natural disasters (i.e. tsunami) and battle the tyrants and warlords (i.e. rioters and rebels) of the land. And then suddenly the operation have to stand down... :P

Stuck in Sierra now.

Wise Words by the Buddha

This is to be done by one skilled in aims who wants to break through to the state of peace:

Be capable, upright, & straightforward,
easy to instruct, gentle, & not conceited,
content & easy to support,
with few duties, living lightly,
with peaceful faculties, masterful,
modest, & no greed for supporters.
Do not do the slightest thing that the wise would later censure.

By Shantideva

May the earth be wholesome everywhere;
The world blessed with prosperity.
May the poor and destitute find wealth;
And bound animals freed.

May every being ailing with illness,
Find relief at once from suffering.
May all sickness that afflict living beings,
Be instantly and permanently healed.

May those who go in dread,
have no more fear;
May captives be unshackled and freed.
May the weak now become strong;
May living beings help each other in kindness.

May travelers on the road,
Find happiness no matter where they go.
And may they gain without hardship,
The goals on which their hearts are set.

From the songs of birds and the whispering trees,
From the shafts of light and the sky itself;
May the shower of Truth rain down
On thirsty hearts and bring fulfillment.
